The triple threat of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Transformers and The Simpson Movie brought a record boxoffice weekend for UK cinema bringing in £20 million over the three days.  It beat the previous record of £19.2 million back in November 2005 when Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire hit theaters.

"The cinema market continues to show positive growth," said Rupert Gavin, the chief executive officer of Odeon theaters.  "This record weekend clearly shows that it remains one of the nation's top entertainment choices."
