J.K. Rowling, French Knight
Tue, Feb 3, 2009
J.K. Rowling was just knighted by French president Nicolas Sarkozy, the country’s highest honor.
While foreigners can’t be officially inducted into French knighthood, they can be given honorary titles; previous honorary honorees include Steven Spielberg and Barbra Streisand.
WENN notes that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was the first English-language book to ever top France’s bestsellers list — before it was translated. That’s a knight-worthy feat, right?
