‘Half Blood Prince’ Knocking on $300 Million’s Door
Fri, Sep 11, 2009
It was two weeks ago that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince broke through the $292 million barrier that Order of the Phoenix set to become the second-highest-grossing Harry Potter film yet. (Sorcerer’s Stone, being the first, made $318 million.) Now it’s knocking on the door of the $300 million barrier.
Today is Half Blood Prince’s 59th day of release, and it’s going into its ninth weekend. The box office has slowed to a crawl by now — last weekend, it made $1.8 million from Fri-Sun, and this past Wednesday, it made $97,144 — but it can get there. As of Wednesday night, it was at $297.8 million. That means it won’t hit the mark by the end of this weekend, but maybe by the next?
I’ll keep you posted.
