Here in the United States, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen won the summer box office crown easily with $400 million, while Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince came in second with $299.6 million (and counting!  You can make it to $300!)  But Half-Blood Prince has the last laugh: worldwide, it’s the biggest movie of the year.

On the worldwide list, Half-Blood Prince made a total of $893 million, whereas Revenge of the Fallen was a few significant notches below, with $831.  That actually put it in third place: Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs came in second with a stunning $857 million.  Who knew?

After those three, there’s a huge drop: the next film on the worldwide list, Angels & Demons, made “only” $485 million.
